Ciudad re-productiva. La Escocesa. Perímetro

Ejercicio de 5º de carrera

La Escocesa factory complex is located in the Provençals de Poblenou neighborhood of the Sant Martí district, Barcelona, in a block delimited by the streets of Pere IV, Selva de Mar, Fluvià and Bolívia.

La Escocesa complex is one of the best preserved industrial sites in 22@. Thanks to its strategic location on the old road that connected Barcelona with France (currently c/ Pere IV), La Escocesa has resisted the implementation of the Eixample, which in its original project erased the trace of Pere IV, and the speculative pressure of recent years. It is a compact complex of about 7,000 m2 made up of several factories without a specific built style built between 1845-1892.

The enclosure has had the ability to adapt to various historical moments and unplanned adaptations and has undergone additions, extensions and conversions that give it a special character of heterogeneous permanence. Since 2008 it has been partially used as an artistic center and there are currently projects to recover different warehouses of La Escocesa.

A mixed program is proposed that helps as a whole to reactivate La Escocesa and to strengthen the relationship with the urban environment. Work will be done at different scales, from a global urban vision to the material definition of the most significant part of the partial projects.
